Meet the Cast and Playwright of La Paz Perpetua

La paz perpetua begins previews on Friday, February 21st and premieres on Tuesday, February 25th, 2020 at Repertorio Español’s historic Gramercy Arts Theater located at 138 East 27th Street in Manhattan, New York.

Meet the accomplished playwright, Juan Mayorga, director, Leyma López, designer, Robert Federico and cast behind La paz perpetua, including Germán Jaramillo, Zulema Clares, Luis Carlos de La Lombana, Sandor Juan, and Pedro De León.

About the play: The elite canine squad K9 is on the hunt for new member. Three dogs have made it to the final rounds of testing but only one can move ahead. Will it be the Rottweiler with a powerful nose? The tough crossbreed who follows orders without question? Or the intelligent and philosophical German Shepherd with a personal vendetta? A grizzled veteran Labrador issue the examinations that will ultimately decide which dog can wear the prestigious“white collar”of K9. How far will they go to reach their goal? And at what cost?

FotoPacoNavarro2Playwright, Juan Mayorga – born in Madrid in 1965 is a Spanish playwright and dramatist. He is one of the co-founders of Teatro de Allistero, as well as the company La Loca de la Casa. His other works include, The Tongue in Pieces, Geneva’s Dream, The Scorched Garden, Love Letters to Stalin, and More Ashes. He is the recipient of the 2007 Spanish National Theatre Award, the 2009 Valle Inclán award, as well as the 2013 National Dramatic Literature Award among others. His plays including Way To Heaven have been produced at Repertorio Español and around the world and have been translated into 30+ languages.








Leyma Lopez HeadshotDirector, Leyma López – Born in San José de las Lajas in La Habana, Cuba. In 2009 received her degree in Acting and The Arts from The Superior Institute of La Habana. López was the founder and director of Rompecalles in 2007, a theatrical project focused on investigating classic text. López is presently Resident Director of Repertorio Español. She was the recipient of the Van Lier Award for Young Directors in 2012. At Repertorio Español she directed: Por Gusto (For Pleasure), El Loco por Fuerza (Insane by Force), Hierba mala nunca muere (Weeds Won’t Die), Aire Frío (Cool Air), and many others. She has received various nominations and awards for ATI, ACE and HOLA.


Production Designer and Executive Producer, Robert Weber Federico Robert Weber Federico earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Art History at Columbia College and an MFA in Design for the theatre at New York University’s School of the Art.  In 1971, Mr. Federico designed his first production at Repertorio Español and joined the company full-time in 1972, when the Company relocated to the Gramercy Arts Theatre.  Since then, he has created sets, lighting and costumes for over 100 productions for the theatre. He is most proud of bringing theatre to over 800,000 students in the course of his tenure spearheading the Company’s outreach efforts to schools. In 2005, Repertorio’s Board of Directors appointed Mr. Federico as the Executive Producer.






Germán Jaramillo (Casius) Germán Jaramillo was born in Manizales, Caldas, Colombia. He is known for Our Lady of the Assassins (2000), Paraiso Travel (2008) and Narcos (2015). His trajectory as an actor has won him awards including Colombia’s Actor of the Year on various occasions. He starred in the film La virgen de los sicarios (2000) for which he was nominated and won many international awards. Jaramillo is the co-founder of ID Studio Theater in New York, of which he is the Artistic Director. He is also the co-founder of the Teatro Libre de Bogotá (The Free Theatre of Bogotá), where he worked for more than 30 years. Some of his credits with Repertorio include: Doña Flor and Her Two Husbands, Weeds Just Won’t Die, and No One Ever Writes to the Colonel.



Zulema NEW

Zulema Clares (The Human)– Born in Cuba and holds a degree in Theater Techniques and Choral Direction from Cuba’s National Arts School.  In 1996 she co-founded Argos Theater of Cuba and soon after she became one of the most acclaimed actresses of Cuban stage for her work in classics like Strindberg, Brecht, Calderon de la Barca, among others.  She won the Best Actress Award at the 2001 Camaguey Theater Festival in Cuba and received multiples HOLA and ACE awards for her work at Repertorio Español. Zulema currently resides in New York.  





Luis Carlos de la Lombana (Ódin) – is an actor, singer, composer, director and producer hailing from Santander, España. He hold two university degrees, one in acting from the National School of Dramatic Arts in Spain and one in law from the Autonomous University in Madrid. Recently, he co-produced La Strada (The Road), and he is part of the company of actors at Repertorio Español. As a singer and composer he has worked with the musical group QVINQUE and La Strada. He has received multiple awards including the ACE, ATI and HOLA awards.






Sandor Juan 280pxSandor Juan (Enmanuel) – Sandor Juan began acting at age fifteen in a Telemundo series called, De Padres a Hijos. Mr. Juan also made his film debut appearing alongside Marisa Tomei in The Perez Family, a film directed by Mira Nair. In 2001 he enrolled at “New World School of the Arts” where he studied modern American Theater and the Hagen technique. He also attends Bobby Moresco’s workshop “The Actor’s Gym.” He made his premiere at Repertorio Español in Probation and would go on to act in the hit-comedy La nena se casa, by Carlos Ferrari. He is the recipient of the ACE and HOLA awards.





Pedro Headshot by Isaac Danna Pedro De León (John-John) – Pedro De León was born in Santurce, Puerto Rico. He studied literature at the University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez Campus. In 2013 he moved to New York and  studied acting at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts (AADA). He made his debut at Repertorio Español with “Blind Spot” by Gerardo Cárdenas, winner of the Met Life contest: “Nuestra Voces”.
