With the Holidays coming up, so begins the season of giving! There are thousands of reasons why you should donate to Repertorio Español, but here are ten solid reasons why doing so is not just giving to Repertorio, but giving back to the entire Latino community

1. DIGNIDAD.

1
Repertorio introduces over 18,000 students a year to Latino Theater through ¡DIGNIDAD!, an educational initiative with interactive outreach programs. In other words, we take fieldtrips to a whole different level, and the kids love it.

2. THE VAN LIER DIRECTING FELLOWSHIP.

(“El cruce sobre el niagara” directed by Victoria Collado)

Every year, young directors are invited to try their hand and develop their skills on Repertorio’s stage, creating opportunities for bright, young directors to direct in Spanish and aiding in the creation of a fresh, new, talented blood in the world of directors. Victoria Collado, Diego Chiri and Estefania Fadul are this year’s candidates!

3. METLIFE ‘NUESTRAS VOCES’ NATIONAL PLAYWRITING COMPETITION.

(“Su nombre será su sombra para siempre” by Carlos Murillo, the winner of the 2013 Nuestras Voces Competition)

Hand in hand with The MetLife Foundation, Repertorio extends young, budding playwrights the opportunity to have their original plays produced on stage – cultivating a new generation of Latino voices in theater. Barceló con hielo and Su nombre será su sombra para siempre are just two in a major canon of plays by Latino playwrights produced by Repertorio.

4. ACTORS.

Repertorio Español employs countless actors from across the world in its company, creating an opportunity for today’s and tomorrow’s big stars – both international and domestic – to come together and create some awesome theater.

5. WE’VE BEEN IN BUSINESS SINCE 1968.

5

Repertorio Español is one of the oldest and largest Latino theater companies in the United States, and one of the most internationally renowned. Founded by Gilberto Zaldívar and Rene Buch in 1968, we have 46 solid years of bringing quality theater to our community – a testament to both our talent and our administration.

6. GUEST STARS.

7. WE BRING YOUR FAVORITE STORIES TO LIFE EVERY NIGHT.

Where else can you see the stories of Sancho Panza, Bernarda Alba and Doña Flor come to life on the same stage?

8. WE HAVE A LITTLE BIT OF EVERYTHING.

Repertorio Español is a repertory theater, which means that we present a broad spectrum of productions – from comedies, to dramas, to musical reviews, to standup comedy, to dance. Whatever your cultural side is craving, we can satisfy it.

9. YOUR DONATION IS TAX DEDUCTIBLE.

Aside from being a theater and a company, Repertorio Español is a non-profit, 501(c)3 organization which means your donation is eligible for a tax deduction… making your donation the gift that gives back to the community and back to you!

10. WE’RE FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD, BUT WE SHARE ONE MISSION!

Only in New York can artists from across Latin America, the United States and Spain come together and share the same mission – to bring the Latino community the best, high quality theater that reflects our heritage and culture. A donation to Repertorio is not just a donation to a theater, but to a community of artists dedicated to preserving, advancing and cultivating the cultural greatness of the Latino people.

You can learn more about how to support Repertorio Español by visiting www.repertorio.org/dignidad. Box office revenue only accounts for 50% of our company’s income, and the rest of what we do we owe to individuals like you who support our work and share our mission.
